Sierra Pacific West, Inc. is a general engineering contracting firm based in the City of Vista located in Northern San Diego County. We have been serving the County of San Diego for over thirty years by providing services in heavy highway, roadway, public school, memorial, community parks, and agency related work. We service a comprehensive range of project sizes and scopes and have completed a variety of projects in the commercial, industrial, public works, and military sectors. Summary/Objective Manages all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion. Essential Functions TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND CIVIL GRADING PLANS. • As the point of contact on assigned projects, performs a variety of highly skilled duties such as: assembling, coordinating and managing multidisciplinary technical review teams • Facilitates and troubleshoots the myriad of problems associated with developing complex systems or with coordinating and development, and design projects • Provides highly skilled technical and management advice and assistance to department management and personnel • Responds to inquiries about projects • Shares various project review and pre-submittal meetings • Establishes and maintains liaison as required with boards, committees and commissions • Assists in developing departmental plans, goals, objectives, policies and procedures • Performs project design for civil engineering projects • Coordinates schedules of staff and other interested parties Competencies • Project Management • Technical Capacity • Communication Proficiency • Problem Solving/Analysis Supervisory Responsibility No direct supervisory duties, though management of projects includes directing project related activities of the project team members. Work Environment This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel. Required Education and Experience • High school graduation, or its equivalent • At least 4 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction, including at least two years of experience in project management or a related field; or graduation from an accredited university with a degree in civil engineering or related field and two years of progressively responsible engineering experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
