Pavlovcik Architecture Inc is looking to fill an opening for a Senior Architect position in a small (6-Person) architectural firm located in downtown Chicago (Mag Mile). Candidates must be well versed in the City of Chicago Building Codes and Zoning Ordinances. Our firm focuses on providing efficient, cost-effective designs and architectural plans for obtaining building permits; primarily for residential remodeling and new-construction projects throughout the City of Chicago and surrounding Chicagoland. Job Duties will include: - Providing oversight & leadership to Associate Architects - Providing design assistance during the schematic design phase for Residential Remodeling, and New Construction Projects. - Providing design assistance during the schematic design phase for Light Commercial and Hospitality Design Projects. - Review of Architectural Drawings for Code Compliance and Constructability Concerns - Design Assistance and Review of Residential MEP Systems - Design Assistance and Review of Residential Structural Systems - Design Asistance and Detailing of Building Sections & Details as needed for Construction - Assistance and Oversignt of Permit Document Preparation, Coordination, & Submittal - Assistance during in-person and virtual client meetings as needed - Meeting with Clients on site to Analyze & Discuss Potential Projects Requirements for Qualified Candidates: - Extensive knowledge of the City of Chicago Building Codes and Zoning Ordinances - Completed College Degree in Architecture - 5+ Years Experience with Residential Remodeling & New Construction - Experience managing a team of less experienced Architectural associates. - Ability to Design thoughtful and efficient, code-compliant layouts for residential remodeling and new construction projects - Ability to review drawings in detail in order to address code compliance concerns prior to submitting for building permits - Ability to understand, explain, and assist in addressing permit review corrections and comments - Ability to Coordinate & Communicate Design Ideas & Solutions with Clients - Ability to Visit Project Sites In-Person to Discuss Construction Concerns - Organized, Reliable, Detail Orientated, with Good Communication Skills - Ability to Motivate Others and Commit to Deadlines Preferred Attributes for Candidates: - Licensed as an Architect in at least 1 state (not required) - Desire for Continuous Improvement in the Workplace - Completion of Formal Training regarding the City of Chicago Building Codes - Personal/professional relationships with members of the City of Chicago Department of Buildings and Department of Zoning This position will qualify to provide AXP hours to be used towards Licensing through the NCARB program.
